if god looked me in the eyes tonight/ i would have no fear/ for the night has sunk into my skin/crept through like the monster underneath my bed/ my soul has hidden in the shadows/ the melancholy, the emptiness grips at me/ clings onto my shoulders/ and she whips me around in my desk chair/ we stare at each other/ we’re two sides of the same coin/ and this time, i am afraid/ cause she takes me every night/ every time.
